Some low carb diets really aren't safe. They don't low carbs of any kind--ever. The problem with that is your body needs 130 grams of carbs a day to function. And even then they encourage you to eat healthy carbs like fruits and vegetables--eventually.
Safe low carb diets don't recommend that you cut your carbs completely. In fact, the first two weeks of most low carb diets only allow you to have 20 grams of carbs a day, but they don't recommend that you stay in that phase for more than two weeks. Any low carb diets that tell you to rule out carbs completely, or to have 20 grams of carbs or less a day for an extended period of time are not safe low carb diets. Safe low carb diets suggest that you take a multivitamin, calcium supplements and fiber supplements to make up for lost nutrients.
